Waylan Dean Conley

April 9, 1971 ~ May 12, 2018 (age 47)

In loving memory of Waylan Dean Conley Born: April 9, 1971 Wichita, Kansas Died: May 12, 2018 Lynn (Boston), Massachusetts Survived by his husband Steffan Morris, both of his parents Carl Dean Conley and Mary Alice Conley (Beil), their beloved Yorkie puppies Macy Mae and Millie Marie, five brothers (Chris, Mark, Kent, Brent Rogers and Scott Allen Conley), several nieces and nephews (Jayden, Megan, Austin, Brooke, Mindy and Jessie), grand-niece Carlee, grand-nephew Greyson, best friends Larry Patton, Jessie Macintosh Nilsestuen, Danielle Payant, and many beloved friends and family members.

Waylan (Dean) was one of the most compassionate loving souls many of us have ever had the privilege of knowing. Thinking of him calls to mind the happy memories we all have of him. The happiness he shared with all of us was genuine. His appreciation of life was unquestioned. The love for his loved ones and his family was sincere and true. He found real pleasure in his many artistic pursuits such as design, restoration, painting, antiquing, and daydreaming of the future. He never took his friendships for granted, and offered so much in return. There is simply no way to convey how dynamic and vivacious he was. A graduate from Clearwater High School in Clearwater, KS and Wichita State University, his careers included working as a Delta Airlines Purser, Government International Trade Compliance Officer at Aviall Corporation, and Senior Program Buyer at JetEast and Cessna Aircraft. Dean’s death is not the sum of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of many people who loved him and will continue to cherish the memories they shared with him.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at his home at 44 Colonial Avenue, Lynn, MA 01904 on Saturday May 19th, 2018  from 4pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations be made in the name of Waylan Dean Conley to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741.  Assisting the Steffan and his Family with Arrangements is The NADWORNY Funeral Home 798 Western Avenue Lynn, MA. 01905

Dear Boston Family,

I am so heartbroken to share this news in this manner, but the fact that it would have literally taken days to speak individually with all those who loved him speaks volumes to how adored he was by all who new him.

On the evening of May 12, 2018, Waylan Dean Conley passed away. There are no words to describe the void he leaves behind. To know Dean was to know laughter and kindness and compassion and acceptance. The giggle, the smirk, the quirk of the eyebrow, the not-quite-but-just-perceptible drawl, the twinkling green eyes… the quick wit, the mischievousness, the humor, the playfulness… For the all too short time the world had him, he was a gift to those whose lives he touched. Trying to condense the best things about him into just a few paragraphs is an impossible feat. Dean had a quiet calm about him. You rarely, if ever, saw him flustered. On the aircraft, chaos could be breaking out, there could be riots in the cabin, and Dean would be efficiently darting around the galley without batting an eye. He was the same in his personal life, always helping friends and family when we couldn’t help ourselves. He saw beauty where others saw trash, and had the rare gift of making anything and anyone he touched feel beautiful. He brought light into the darkest of places, and the world feels a little dimmer now without him.

To all of those who knew him, I am so sorry for your loss. To all of those who did not, we thank you for listening to our stories in the days, months, and years to come, keeping his memory alive.
