Obituary

Priscilla (Marten) Roberts born May 2nd, 1929 in Lynn, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in Danvers, Massachusetts on the 16th of April 2020 at the age of 90.  Raised by immigrant parents in Lynn, Massachusetts, the late John and Adeline Marten. She was the youngest of seven siblings and cherished each of them dearly.

Priscilla attended Lynn English High School and upon graduation attended Salem State College in pursuit of a career in education.   Priscilla spent over 30 years teaching where she touched the lives of thousands of children. She was always happy to serve in whatever capacity was needed whether it be administrator or mentor and always had an encouraging word for her students, their parents and her peers and was recognized as  teacher of the year along with other honors.

With a love of travelling Priscilla joined her friends and family for adventures around the world.  Whether trekking the flanks of Mount Fuji in Japan or sipping wine in the Italian countryside, Priscilla’s sense for adventure carried her to destinations far and wide.  A true gastronome and talented cook, Priscilla enjoyed both entertaining guests at home and joining her friends and family for meals at New England’s best restaurants – always knowing where to find the freshest lobster or fattest clams.

Priscilla’s massive heart and abundant love served to build a community uniting family and friends across the country.  Priscilla was known for her warm smile and sense of humor, passion for education, green thumb, her marvelous baking, love of music, and her unconditional love.  Abound with sage advice, from a young age Priscilla was an often sought counsel in times of hardship. A gifted storyteller, Priscilla preserved the memories of the past and enjoyed recounting tales of struggle, perseverance, and hard-won victories to her students, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews – inspiring countless children to chase their dreams.

Priscilla lived the fullest of lives and was known to all as the most incredible friend, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and so much more.  While it would take volumes to capture the accomplishments of Priscilla Roberts, her legacy will live on through the countless lives of those she touched.

Priscilla is survived by her children Donald Roberts of Virginia, and Kristin Muise and her husband Scott of South Carolina, as well as her grandchildren Tal-ee Roberts and his wife Kathryn, Joshua Horton, Jason Muise and his wife Trista, Justin Muise and his wife Gabby, and Gretcher Roberts. Loving sister of the late Ethel, Lillian, John, Richard, Thelma and Shirley and she also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends. We all take comfort in knowing that Priscilla has joined her parents, siblings, and daughter Sharon in Heaven where she watches over us all.
