On News Year Eve, after almost a decade of battling cancer with grace and courage, Phil decided to join his wife of 63 years, Fran, who had been waiting patiently for the last 4 years. A master of Irish Diplomacy, his wit and charm brightened the day for those who had the good fortune to meet him. In addition to joining his wife, he is now reunited with his brother, and best friend, Danny, and his loving sister Rose. Heaven will never be the same. Phil was the first-born son of Irish immigrants, Philip and Catherine Keown of Beleek, Northern Ireland, and was a lifelong son of West Lynn. He worked as a welder at General Electric, Lynn for over 30 years and was a fixture in McDonough Square for all his life. It truly is the end of an era. Phil leaves a lifetime of cherished memories for his three children: Philip B. Keown and his wife Susan of Peabody, Helen Keown-Crilley and her husband Scott, and John J. Keown of Lynn. He also adored his grandchildren Dr. Bridget Keown of Pittsburg, Susan Douglas and James Tranfaglia and his significant other Valerie Yentina, all of NH. He also leaves four great grandchildren, Dana and Daniel Coogan and Michael and Lily Douglas, with a fifth great grandson soon to arrive. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Morin and her husband Phil of Lynnfield and brother Patrick and his wife Laurel of Naples Florida, who will dearly miss his smile, his laughter and his love. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Nadworny Funeral Home 798 Western Ave., Lynn on Friday January 10th at 8:00 AM, followed by his Memorial Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 9:00AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday from 3:00 PM- 7:00 PM. For quest book and directions www.nadwornyfuneralhome.com
