Mary Ellen Cushing, first born child of Mary (McEachern) Kostro and Gerald Kostro, passed away on June 30, 2021. She was born in Medford, Massachusetts on October 23, 1960. She graduated from Medford High School in 1978. Throughout high school, she traveled New England and other parts of the country with choirs, showing her love of singing and music.
On May 27th 1983, she married Paul J. Cushing at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford, Massachusetts. She was a fierce individual, who would stop at nothing to help someone. MaryEllen would offer her time to those who needed support at all times. She was also unafraid to stand up and push others to be their best selves. She would help people out of bad moods, difficult moments, and guide people to what they truly wanted. She was a lover of light and color and made sure to show it in a Paisley shirt, a red power blazer, or funky and colorful socks. She had socks that showed her love of holidays and sweaters for Christmas. She was fiercely devoted to family.
Over the years, she was deeply involved in PTOs and was the Field Director of Lynn Youth Soccer with her husband for many years. She was always there for her children, whether they were at the fields or in school by helping with homework. When she had grandchildren, she loved them deeply and helped care for them with anything that was needed, whether it was with a hug or taking them to a doctor’s appointment. She was a devoted worker, who spent nearly forty years working in Boston, MA. She was diligent, detail-oriented, and relentless, and would not be afraid to dig deep to make sure that everyone was helped. She was kind to her coworkers, becoming fast and long friends with them.
She leaves behind her husband, Paul J. Cushing and her three children, Cassandra, Paul H., and Elizabeth. She also is survived by three grandchildren, Deyshon, Jermaine, and Khaleesi. She has three brothers, Gerald, James and John. There are no services at this time.
