Marion C. Dorgan, age 88, returned to her heavenly home & entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the home of her daughter. She was aptly called to her God on the day of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother Mary. Marion’s faith and the daily mass sustained her throughout her life.
Born in Lynn, Marion was the daughter of the late Denis & Teresa (McKeon) Cronin & the wife of the late John “Iggy” Dorgan with whom she shared 66 years of marriage, which she stated was her greatest accomplishment.
Marion was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Lynn and St. Mary’s High School, class of 1949 where she served as Class President. She was inducted into the St. Mary’s Hall of Fame in 2015. She served as Prefect of the St. Patrick’s Ladies Sodality, a position she held with great pride.
Marion was employed at Lynn City Hall in the Veterans Office prior to joining the Lynn Fire Department’s main office where she worked for 20 years.
“Mimi” will be remembered for her full house at #75 beginning when her children were young & lasting well into her elder years. She and her house leave a lasting legacy of rocking parties, piano playing, bad singing, bag pipers, spaghetti nights, Sunday dinners, holidays, & clanking pipes from blasting heat that will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren forever. The good times are as extensive as the countless signatures scrawled through the years upon the attic walls.
Left behind to carry on her memory are her 3 sons & 8 daughters: Denise Carritte (Brian), Debra McManus (the late Patrick), Diane Marengi (Arthur), Denis Dorgan (Trish), Darlene Clark (Dave), Donna Legere (Michael), Dawn Dorgan (Rick), Dale Cyr (Darren), David Dorgan (Kim), Daniel Dorgan (the late Tammy), Deirdre Dorgan (Scott). Her grandchildren: Christopher, Shaun, Brendan, Laura, Yiyi, John, Susanna, Marni, Matthew, Nathan, Adam, Casey, Chloe, Denis, Alix, Eric, Brittany, Lindsay, Troy, Colin, Courtney, Lauren, Paige, Michael, Matthew, Christian, Kylian, Declan, Nolan, Emilee, Rebecca, Dayna. Her great grandchildren: Tanner, Zachary, Eliza, Donovan, Mac, Arthur, William, Alessandra, Sebastian, Ruby, Roman, Inara, & soon to welcome Mimi’s namesake, Roxy Marion! Her sister Denise Stacy & husband Bob, her brother David Cronin (the late Frannie), & several nieces, nephews & lifelong friends.
Marion is pre-deceased by her brother Frederick Cronin, her daughter Doreen Dorgan, & her granddaughter Lauren Clark, both of whom died in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may take a friend to lunch while wearing a fashionable sequined mask.
