Obituary

Joan M.(DeMatteo) Nickolas of Saugus, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 7,2020. She was the daughter of the late Ruth (Karuzis) DeMatteo of Lynn and the late Harry A. DeMatteo of Revere, sister of the late Robert A. DeMatteo of Lynn. Joan was the wife of Arthur Nickolas predeceased.

They were former owners of "Arthurs Place" in McDonough Square, Lynn. It was a local popular gathering place for friends and neighbors. Joan had many interests, including a passion for painting and decorating. She was a naturally gifted artist who painted portraits and landscapes for her family throughout the years. But above all Joan was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her loving daughter Kim and granddaughter Jami who cared for her during her lengthy illness. Joan is also survived by her beloved sons Steven (and his wife Jane) and Gregory (and his wife Debbie). She is also survived by her grandchildren Jackie, Brianna, and Mason, and great-granddaughter Kenzie Mae. Joan also leaves a close and caring sister Carol (DeMatteo) Gold and Carol's five daughters, a life-long dear family friend Virginia DeGenova of Lynn, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
