James J. McCoy, Jr., of Haverhill, formerly of Lynn, beloved son of the late James J. Sr. and Catherine McCoy died June 29th at the Holy Family Hospital. Born, raised and educated in Lynn, Jim attended the former St. Patrick Grammar School class of 1945 and was a 1949 graduate of St. Mary’s Boy’s High School.
Jim was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s, St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea in 1953 for a year during his service where he attained the rank of Corporal.
Jim had worked in the retail grocery field throughout the North Shore at places such as Elm Farm, Purity Supreme, Richdale, Avnet and The Star Market Company retiring as store manager after 35 years. James had been living in Haverhill for the past 7 years.
Jim is survived by his nieces Kathryn Cottrell, Sandra and her husband Timothy Gerraughty, nephews William Fisher, Sean McCoy, Craig McCoy and his wife Donna, niece in law Elinor Fisher and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mildred Fisher, his brothers Thomas P. McCoy, Francis J. McCoy and nephew Scott McCoy.
Relatives are invited to attend his funeral from the Nadworny Funeral Home 798 Western Ave., Lynn Monday at 9:30AM, followed by his Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary’s Church, Lynn at 11:00AM.
